Knowledge, professionalism and service
GV Cooling & Heating earns Medal of Excellence
By Kathy Engle
|
Green Valley Cooling & Heating was recently honored with a prestigious national award—the Gold Medal of Excellence from Bryant Heating and Cooling Systems in Indianapolis, Ind.
Keith R. Terrell, assistant brand manager for Bryant, made the announcement this month, nothing that only 1 percent of its dealers nationwide receive this honor.
“Bryant’s Medal of Excellence distinction does more than recognize dealer achievement,” Terrell explained.
“It also provides consumers with a basis for making better choices in their home comfort solutions provider.
“When homeowners choose to work with a Medal of Excellence dealer, they are assured of superior knowledge, professionalism and service,” Terrell said.
He added that Bryant Medal of Excellence recipients have been found to be “committed to excellence in every part of their operation—from hiring and developing the most capable technicians to continual improvements in operations and business practices to the level of professionalism and integrity with which they interact with customers.”
Valuable tools
Green Valley Cooling & Heating owner Ethan Beneze, said he found the self-assessment and business planning elements of the Medal of Excellence process to be valuable business-building tools.
“The Medal of Excellence process helps us to evaluate both our successes and failures over the course of a year and then develop immediate and long-term goals for continually improving our operations,” Beneze said.
“Though we are certainly pleased to win the award, it is what we learned through the process that really makes the difference in how we take care of customers.
In the past year, for example, Green Valley Cooling and Heating obtained NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification for two service technicians, a process that involves intensive study and then testing in Phoenix,
Beneze said other technicians at the company are also pursuing this certification and that the company provides a bonus to those who achieve it.
The company’s goal is to have 80 percent of its technicians certified by the end of this year, he said.
Green Valley Cooling & Heating also worked to improve its operations by implementing a customer satisfaction program.
Customer satisfaction
“Over the past year, we achieved a rating of 3.75 points out of four points in customer satisfaction and are aiming for 3.8 or 3.9 in the near future,” Beneze said. “We take customer feedback very seriously.”
The Medal of Excellence process encourages businesses to embrace new ways of managing their business and responding to their customers, Beneze said.
Beneze, formerly senior vice president of Alpha Graphics, bought Green Valley Cooling & Heating from long-time owner Phil Yahn two years ago.
The company now employs 17 persons, including sales and customer service representatives, installers, technicians and those who handle the maintenance agreements.
Beneze’s wife, Candiss, is the company’s vice president and secretary.
The company provides a complete range of products and services, including air conditioning and heating systems, air filtration systems, installation and service and maintenance agreements to residential and light commercial customers in the greater Green Valley area.
Green Valley Cooling & Heating services approximately 6.000 customers within a 20-mile radius of its Green Valley offices, Beneze said.
Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems, a national brand of heating and cooling equipment has been in business since 1904.
Terrell said that despite the company’s “nearly 100-year tradition of excellence, being a leader yesterday and today is not a guarantee that you will be tomorrow...unless you are willing to lead that change.
“Bryant Medal of Excellence participants understand this. They’re the ones shaping the future, rather than just trying to keep up with it,” Terrell noted.
“Our congratulations to Green Valley Cooling & Heating,” he said.
